Linear Gate Installation in Dallas: What to Know First

We install, replace, and upgrade Linear gate operators and the gates they drive across Dallas, typically completing most residential installations within one to two business days once parts are on hand. A new Linear swing or slide operator in the Dallas market usually runs $1,100 to $2,800 installed, depending on operator series, gate weight, and whether we’re reusing existing hardware. The written price you get before we start is the price you pay. We’re an independent Linear service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer, which means we recommend what actually works for your gate, not what a factory program tells us to push.

If you own a Linear system and the gate is sagging, the operator is straining, or you just bought a property with a Linear opener already mounted and want to know what you’re working with, this page is for you. Call (940) 531-9746 and you’ll get a live person who can schedule a site visit, not a voicemail.

How Linear Products Fail and How We Fix Them

Linear gate operators are widely installed in Dallas, and after nearly two decades working on them, we know where they break and why. Here are the failure patterns we see most often on installation jobs:

  • Linear LDO50 swing operators burning out limit switches. The LDO50 is a common light-duty swing operator on Dallas residential gates. The limit switch tells the motor where to stop. When wind loads from a north Texas thunderstorm push a gate past its stop point repeatedly, the switch wears out and the operator slams the gate into the post or fails to close fully. Our fix is replacing the limit switch set and setting the stops with a half-inch of mechanical cushion, which the factory default rarely accounts for.
  • Linear SL series slide operators with stripped drive gears. The SL series (SL-1, SL-2) uses a plastic drive gear that strips when a gate rolls on worn track rollers or hits a misaligned track. The operator sounds fine until it doesn’t move at all. We replace the gear with the factory-spec part and address the track or roller issue that caused the strip in the first place. Replacing the gear alone without fixing the drag just means another stripped gear in six months.
  • Linear M3 and LS series control boards failing after lightning events. Dallas gets more than its share of electrical storms. The M3 and LS-series boards are sensitive to surges and will cook a transformer or relay without tripping a breaker. The gate just goes dead. We install surge suppression at the panel when we replace these boards, which the original installation rarely includes.
  • Linear APeX series remote range dropping to practically nothing. The APeX line added rolling-code security, but the receiver antenna routing inside some units is tight, and Dallas heat cycling breaks the solder joint over time. The owner replaces batteries, gets new remotes, and nothing improves. We open the receiver, repair or replace the antenna connection, and test range from the street, not from three feet away.
  • Linear actuator arms seizing on older DS-series operators. The DS-series used an articulating arm that needs lubrication at two pivot points. In the Dallas climate, dirt and fine dust combine with summer heat to turn the factory grease into paste. The arm seizes, the motor overheats, and the thermal breaker shuts the operator down mid-cycle. We disassemble, clean, re-lubricate with a high-temperature moly grease, and check the arm’s extension limits before remounting.

Our Linear Gate Installation Process

Every Linear installation we do in Dallas follows the same sequence, and we walk you through each step before we start. No surprises, no open-ended invoices.

  1. 1
Site call and gate diagnosis. Lonnie Burke or one of our senior techs inspects the gate, hinges, track or swing path, the existing operator mount, the wire run, and the access point for power. We tell you what’s reusable and what isn’t. If the operator failed, we find out why before we bolt in a new one.
  2. 2
Written price before any work starts. You get a line-item price covering the operator, required hardware, any concrete work for mounting pads, and the labor to hang, wire, and program the system. That number is fixed.
  3. 3
Parts decision: OEM vs. quality aftermarket. We call this out plainly. If a Linear factory part is available quickly and the price difference is small, we use it. If an aftermarket part matches the spec and saves you real money without cutting the service life, we tell you and let you choose.
  4. 4
Installation and wiring. We mount the operator, hang or reposition the gate, pull wire in a way that survives Dallas heat and rain, set limits, and program remotes and keypads. The work area is cleaned when we’re done. No wire trimmings, no concrete dust left behind.
  5. 5
Test sequence. We cycle the gate a minimum of ten times in each direction, check obstruction response, verify the manual release works, and watch the gate through a full open-close under normal speed. Then we test again after dark if the gate has a light or reflective hardware.
  6. 6
Walkthrough and paperwork. You get a written copy of the guarantee, the remote control programming instructions, and the date of install. If anything fails inside the guarantee window, the second visit is free.

What Linear Gate Installation Costs in Dallas

Here’s what we typically see in Dallas for common Linear installation scenarios:

  • Single swing gate with LDO50 operator: $1,100 to $1,800, including operator, mounting hardware, and labor.
  • Double swing gate with matched LDO50 or M3 operators: $2,000 to $3,200, depending on gate leaf size and whether new hinges or gate frame repair is needed.
  • Sliding gate with SL-series operator and new track sections: $1,800 to $2,800. Longer runs or gates over 600 pounds push toward the top of that range.
  • Operator replacement only, existing gate in serviceable condition: $900 to $1,600, including removal and disposal of the old operator.

What moves the price: gate weight, whether the existing post or mounting pad is sound, the wire run from the panel to the operator, and whether we need to add obstruction sensors or a keypad. Every estimate is free, and the written price is what you pay, quoted and agreed before any work begins. Call (940) 531-9746 for a firm number on your specific gate.

Why Dallas Homeowners Call Carver Gate Repair Dallas for Linear Work

Most of our Dallas customers have already had a bad gate experience before they call us. A no-show technician, a quote that changed once the gate was opened up, or a crew that left the operator mounted crooked and called it done. The Garrison Standard, which is how every Carver Gate Repair location operates, was set up specifically to fix that. Written price before work starts. Background-checked, uniformed technicians on the job. A written guarantee on every repair, good for a full year. If the repair fails inside that year, the second visit is free, no argument. The phone is answered by a live person 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

We also service four other major gate motor brands: LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. If your property has a Linear operator on the front gate and something else on the back pedestrian gate, one crew handles both. That matters when you’re tired of coordinating multiple contractors.
