When a BFT gate hinge tears loose, a steel post twists out of square, or a weld on the gate frame cracks through, most Dallas homeowners don’t need a full gate replacement. They need the metal repaired or fabricated correctly, and they need it done before the gate sags far enough to bind against the ground or pull itself off its operator. We stock and install BFT-compatible welding and fabrication work across Dallas, typically $280 to $1,600 installed depending on the damage and the part. Most weld repairs on BFT gates and posts are completed in one visit, and we carry the common brackets, plates, and reinforcement stock on the truck.
The way owners usually find the problem is visual. The gate starts dragging on the driveway, a hinge looks like it’s pulling out of the post, or the operator groans because it’s fighting a frame that’s no longer square. According to Lonnie Burke, Owner at Carver Gate Repair Dallas, the repair often takes fewer hours than the time spent waiting for a general welder to call back.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
Welding and fabrication work on BFT equipment spans two general areas. First is the gate itself: steel tube frames, hinge plates, post caps, and tension brackets that support BFT swing or slide operators. Second is operator mounting hardware: base plates, articulating arm brackets, and rack brackets that bolt or weld to the gate. The BFT models most often involved in our Dallas service calls are the Aries, Deimos, and Phobos swing operators, plus the Giuno and Rigel slide operators.
Identifying the right part comes down to measurement, not guesswork. We verify the post material and wall thickness, the hinge-to-hinge spacing, the gate weight, and the operator model stamped on the motor housing. A common compatibility gotcha: BFT articulating arm mounts on Aries and Deimos units use different pivot heights, and welding on a bracket meant for one model will throw the arm geometry off and shorten the operator’s life. For OEM versus aftermarket, we’re direct with customers: BFT-branded mounting hardware matches what the operator was designed around, but quality aftermarket plate steel, when cut and reinforced correctly, often outlasts the original in Dallas weather. We’ll tell you which makes sense for your gate before any cutting or welding starts.
Carver Gate Repair Dallas is an independent service provider and not affiliated with BFT. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems, which helps when a gate uses a mix of components.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. A hinge weld that has cracked or stretched lets the free end of the gate drop, usually a quarter inch first, then enough to scrape concrete. The load shifts to the bottom hinge, which fails next.
- A weld has visible cracks in the face or root. Cracks show as hairline lines running alongside the weld bead, often with rust staining. In North Dallas, the expansion and contraction from summer heat to winter freezes opens these cracks faster than in more stable climates.
- The operator bracket shifts under load. If the BFT articulating arm or rack bracket moves even slightly when the gate opens, the mount is wallowing out or the bolts have stretched. The operator then pushes against a moving point, which burns through limit switches faster.
- The gate grinds or hops during travel. A welded gate frame that’s out of square forces the drive wheels or rollers to climb and chatter. The gate will wear a visible groove in the concrete or chew through the roller wheels.
- Post lean is visible at the base. A steel post that’s pulling up or leaning has lost its structural connection, usually at the weld or the concrete embedment. The gate still works until it doesn’t, but the post keeps moving a little more each week.

In Dallas, BFT gate welding and fabrication repairs typically run between $280 and $1,600 installed. The low end covers a single hinge re-weld or plate reinforcement. The high end covers re-fabricating a gate frame section, truing the gate, re-welding both hinge points, and re-setting the operator mounts. Most jobs land between $400 and $900.
Every quote is written before work starts, so the price doesn’t move once the job is open. That price includes the steel or plate stock, welding consumables, grinding and cleanup, and the labor to test the gate under power with the BFT operator connected. We paint or rust-treat the repair area as part of the job unless you’d rather handle finish yourself. All welding and fabrication work is covered by our written guarantee, good for a full year from the date of service.
| Repair Type | Typical Dallas Price Range |
|---|---|
| Single hinge re-weld | $280 – $420 |
| Post base reinforcement / re-set | $350 – $650 |
| Gate frame crack repair + gusset plate | $400 – $750 |
| Operator bracket fabrication & reinforcement | $500 – $900 |
| Full gate frame true + multi-point weld repair | $1,000 – $1,600 |

What you can safely check: whether the hinge bolts are loose, whether the gate clears the ground evenly, and whether the operator bracket has any visible play. Those checks don’t require a torch, a welder, or a grinder.
What you shouldn’t do yourself is the welding. A gate under tension can shift the moment a cracked weld is cut loose, and a gate that weighs several hundred pounds can come off its hinges quickly if the wrong joint is opened first. Anyone working near the gate should also know that BFT operators keep tension on the arm, and disconnecting an arm without blocking the gate can release stored force. If the frame is cracked through or a post has pulled out of the concrete, that’s a job for a trained welder with the right blocking and bracing. Call (940) 531-9746, and we’ll give you a written price before anything gets cut.
FAQs
A properly reinforced weld on a BFT gate in Dallas typically lasts 12 to 20 years before the surrounding steel needs attention again. The weld itself rarely fails; what ages is the steel adjacent to it, particularly where moisture collects at the base of posts and behind hinge plates. We clean and rust-treat the repair area before welding, which slows the corrosion cycle. Call (940) 531-9746 if you want us to look at an existing repair that’s failing early.
A cracked BFT gate frame can usually be repaired by welding the crack and adding a gusset or backing plate, unless the steel has corroded to the point that there isn’t enough sound material to weld to. We’ll cut back the crack to clean metal, assess the remaining wall thickness, and tell you straight whether a repair is worth doing or a section needs re-fabricating. The estimate is free and the price is written before work starts.
Most single-point weld repairs on BFT gates in Dallas take two to four hours on site, including cleanup and a full test cycle with the operator connected. Larger fabrication work, like re-building a frame section, can run a full day. We’ll give you a time range in the written quote, and we don’t leave until the gate runs clean through a full open and close cycle.
We stock common steel plate, hinge blanks, gusset stock, and operator bracket material on the truck, and we can usually complete a BFT weld repair in one visit. If a specific BFT mounting bracket or an articulating arm needs replacement, we source it the same week and schedule the welding around the part arrival. Call (940) 531-9746 and we’ll tell you whether your job is a same-visit repair or a scheduled one.
